Bruce Lee's philosophy of efficiency, directness and adaptability
Join This Class All ClassesJeet Kune Do (JKD) was founded by Bruce Lee in 1967 in the United States, developed from his earlier Wing Chun training combined with boxing, fencing footwork and ideas drawn from multiple martial arts and philosophy. Lee described it not as a fixed style but as a philosophy of martial arts — encouraging practitioners to take 'what is useful' from any system and discard rigid, 'classical' forms that don't serve real combat efficiency. It remains one of the most influential martial arts philosophies of the modern era.
Because JKD was explicitly designed by its founder to resist becoming a rigid 'style' with a single governing body, it is preserved and taught today mainly through certified instructor lineages tracing back to Bruce Lee's original students, rather than through one central sporting federation.
Students who reach state, national or international medal standard in recognised martial arts tournaments may become eligible for benefits under Government of India and Tamil Nadu sports schemes — including Khelo India scholarships, Sports Authority of India (SAI) support, and sports-quota consideration in select educational institutions and government recruitment. Eligibility criteria, documentation and scheme availability change from time to time and are decided by the respective government departments — please confirm current rules directly with SAI / the relevant department, or ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
